We’ve been so busy over the last month because we were trying to get everything done before the holidays. We have worked so hard that we missed a few weeks of our weekly update.
Reading
We worked Reader’s theatre scripts in groups, we practiced and then presented to Mrs. Barsalou’s class. When the cooking crew was cooking for Romero House, the rest of us solved a You Be The Jury case, “The Case of the Confusing Candy”. We loved it but it was very confusing. Almost all of us got it right though! We are reading a new read aloud called “Gulliver’s Travels.” It’s an interesting and creative imaginative story and we’re loving it! We have been reading poetry and answering questions about it. To get good at understanding, we read poems 3 times carefully and picture it in your head and think about what you’re reading.
Writing –
We have been writing Christmas stories. We have been focusing on using quotation marks, commas, and showing instead of just telling by helping the reader have a picture in their mind. We’re all working on getting better at our own writing goals.
Math –
We have been improving our multiplication facts by playing some new games. We have been solving patterns and writing the rules for patterns in Input/output function machines and in tables. We are learning how to create bar graphs and pictographs. We did a group challenge on Christmas graphing – we’re getting good at remembering what to put on the graphs.
